LAST month may have beee the warmest September for at least 40 years with a mean minimum temperature of 12.2C and a maximum of 21.3C and a high of more than 29C on the 13th.

The rain totals in the area varied considerably from 50mm in Shiplake to 80mm in Middle Assendon. Most of this fell on the 15th, the wettest September day since 1984.

My thanks to Dennis Gilbert, from Shiplake, and Stephen Verge, from Middle Assendon, for the statistics.
