Clean-up cancelled

RESIDENTS of Wargrave are being encouraged to help keep the village tidy.

RESIDENTS of Wargrave are being encouraged to help keep the village tidy.

The plea came from parish councillor Marion Pope, who was overseeing a community clean-up event that was due to take place on Saturday but was cancelled due to snow.

Now she plans to have an information stand at the annual parish assembly next month.

Councillor Pope said: “I suggest we try to get people to take on their street or road, give them a litter pick and ask them to clean it throughout the year. Then we would not have to have a massive clean-up every spring.

“It would take people half an hour perhaps every month and make people feel responsible. We have a lady in her eighties who looks after our road and if she can do it then anyone can.”
