Businesses urged to get in the Christmas spirit

CHRISTMAS trees can now be ordered by businesses in Henley to display outside their premises.

CHRISTMAS trees can now be ordered by businesses in Henley to display outside their premises.

Windowflowers of Slough is supplying the trees at £67.60 each, which includes VAT and a £10 donation to the Lions Club of Henley.

Funds will then be given to the South Oxfordshire Mencap Society, which is organising a Christmas party for its Meteor Club members, and the Chiltern Centre for disabled children in Greys Road, Henley.

Last year, a total of 142 trees were put up around the town centre and organisers hope to beat that figure this year.

Mayor Stefan Gawrysiak said: ?I would encourage every shop in Henley to get a tree outside because on a frosty evening in December it makes the town look absolutely beautiful.

?If we had trees wall-to-wall on every street it would encourage more visitors and make Henley a really popular winter destination as well as kick off our Christmas events in time for the Christmas Festival and late night shopping event on December 6.?

A statement from the Lions said: ?If you have ordered a tree or trees in the past then we hope that you will agree to repeat your order this year, or if you are new to the scheme we can help you make the necessary arrangements which will create a magical display.

?The lights are low-energy LEDs and use hardly any electricity, so please leave them turned on during the evenings to create the maximum impact.?

Orders must be placed by November 8 and the trees will be installed after November 11.

Trees can be ordered by completing the form downloadable here or call the Lions Club on (01491) 574415 or Windowflowers on 01628 667227.
