Henley feathers unruffled

REGULAR Diary readers may remember the photograph on this page a few weeks ago of a swan sitting on a nest on the slipway at the bottom of New Street, Henley.

I observed at the time that the bird didn?t seem to mind being just a few feet from passing traffic, although some thoughtful person had cordoned off the area and added a warning sign to avoid the swan being disturbed.

Now I am happy to report that her four eggs have hatched and, as this delightful photograph from reader Nick Bee shows, the whole family are enjoying life on the water by the slipway and will hopefully be counted by the swan uppers later this year. You can see more of Nick?s pictures of the swans and cygnets at www.henleystandard.co.uk or, of course, you can pop down and see them in the flesh ? or should that be feathers?
