War wood is unveiled

A NEW wood has been unveiled in Kidmore End.

A NEW wood has been unveiled in Kidmore End.

About 100 saplings of beech, hornbeam and oak trees were planted at Vines Farm, off Reading Road, by volunteers in March.

The plantation marks the centenary of the start of the First World War, and has the support of the Kidmore End branch of the Royal British Legion.

A central bed of poppies and a memorial stone are to be added to the site.

The unveiling was attended by about 30 people including David Young, chairman of the Kidmore End branch, and Rev Graham Foulis Brown, who blessed the new trees.
