Wooden kissing gates have been put in place of stiles on footpath Bix 16 in Middle Assendon. The work was carried out by the South Chilterns Path Maintenance Volunteers (part of the Chiltern Society) in partnership with Bix and Assendon Parish Council and with the agreement of the landowners.
It was funded by the Trust for Oxfordshire’s Environment. The footpath runs from the Rainbow pub up to White Lane. Residents had suggested that it could be made much more accessible, especially for the less able, elderly and those with children, if kissing gates were installed. At the same time the path was put back on to its correct definitive line, across the small paddock behind the pub.
