Villagers join tidy-up

ABOUT 40 residents took part in the annual leaf collection at St Mary’s Church in Wargrave.

ABOUT 40 residents took part in the annual leaf collection at St Mary’s Church in Wargrave.

The volunteers, who included church curate Rev Jon Drake, spent Saturday morning clearing the churchyard and nearby Mill Green using rakes, wheelbarrows and a leaf blowers.

A team from Beechwood Tree Care provided extra equipment. Afterwards, everyone who took part was offered bacon sandwiches and coffee.

Organiser Bob Austen said: “On behalf of the church, I would like to express my appreciation to all those who helped. Mill Green now looks beautiful in readiness for Christmas.

“We were blessed with the appearance once again of a great team of volunteers from Beechwood who pitched in with their machinery to help make light of what can be a strenuous exercise. We are very grateful to the team.”
