Cropmarks ‘at risk’

CROPMARKS in Charvil have been listed as “at risk” by Historic England.

CROPMARKS in Charvil have been listed as “at risk” by Historic England.

The marks on land off St Patrick’s Avenue were probably formed by ditches or structures built by early settlers and are classified as a scheduled monument.

While they are currently in good condition, they could be lost due to ploughing of the land, according to the heritage organisation.

Other sites to feature on  Historic England’s at risk database include a barn at Chazey Court Farmhouse in Caversham.
