Hundreds of people took part in community litter-picks in Wargrave, Charvil and Crazies Hill.

Hundreds of people took part in community litter-picks in Wargrave, Charvil and Crazies Hill.

The events, which were part of Wokingham Borough Council’s Wokingham Borough Council’s ninth annual litter- pick, saw volunteers collect hundreds of bags of rubbish in the villages last weekend.

On Saturday morning, residents of Wargrave and Crazies Hill met at Mill Green and The Horns pub respectively before spending the morning cleaning the villages.

Wargrave parish councillor Marion Pope said: “We had about 30 adults and five children and collected a huge amount of rubbish including car parts and empty bottles.

“It was a very good turnout and we covered the whole parish, so I’m very pleased.”

On Sunday, more than sixty people, including members of the local beavers troop, gathered at Charvil village hall. They collected about 80 bags of rubbish, as well as car tyres and road cones. Refreshments were served to all volunteers afterwards.
