VOLUNTEERS are needed to take part in two ragwort-pulling sessions at Gillotts Field in Henley tomorrow (Saturday) and the following Saturday (July 2).
The work parties have been organised by the Henley Wildlife Group, Henley in Transition and the Green Gym.
Sally Rankin, a member of the wildlife group, said: “Please come and help even if it is only for an hour or so.
“The more ragwort we can pull up the happier the town council will be to allow us to have wildflower areas on the field.
“For wildflowers to be able to thrive and spread they need to be able to set seed but the council needs to cut the field to control the ragwort.
“It is reluctant to leave any of the field uncut to allow the wildflowers to set seed unless we pull the ragwort.”
Volunteers should meet by the large gate into the field in Greys Road and bring gardening gloves and a garden fork if you can.
There will be a break for tea, coffee and cake at about 11am.
