School up for award

THE Queen Anne’s U13 team have been shortlisted for school netball team of the year at the Berkshire netball awards.

Laura Cox, head of netball at Queen Anne’s, has also received a nomination for the teacher of the year award category.

The team, including Cox, will attend the awards ceremony tonight (Friday) at Blue Mountain Golf Centre in Binfield.

The team, whose achievements this year include reaching the semi-finals of the ISNC Independent Schools’ Netball Cup, impressed the judging selection panel. Captain of the team that reached the semi-final, Alexandra Griffin from Caversham, said: “Everyone on the team was really excited to hear that we had been shortlisted for an award. I have really enjoyed playing as part of the U13 netball team; the atmosphere in the team is really positive and we all support each other when we play competitively.”

The other members of the Queen Anne’s team include Henley’s Annabelle Roberts, Natalia Jones and Kitty Williams, Hurley’s Abigail Sloman as well as Imogen Williams, Leyla Hazley and Annabel Lovett.
