Gallant Nettlebed Stingers lose out

NETTLEBED STINGERS went down to a five goal defeat against DB Leisure and Friends.

NETTLEBED STINGERS went down to a five goal defeat against DB Leisure and Friends.

Both teams came out strong from the start with DB Leisure taking an early lead up until half-time at which point, due to some strategic position changing, Stingers came back fighting. Scarlett King, Totie Southwell and Claire Priddy dominated the centre court with good interceptions, leaps and bounds sending the ball down the court to the circle for the shooters to work their magic.

In the circle Southwell, Priddy and Chloe Mordue had some strong defensive opposition but worked together as a team, playing to their strengths. In the defensive circle player-of-the-match Chanti Stubbs, Sarah Roberts and Siggy Lee produced formidable opposition. Using Stubbs’s height, Roberts’ speed and Lee’s ability to be in the right place at the right time, they were able to take advantage of any errors made by the opposition and send the ball back down the court.

While Stingers were unable to claw back the early DB lead they made them fight for their victory in a keenly contested match.
