TWO people from the Henley area have been licensed to serve as lay ministers, who can teach, preach, lead worship and give pastoral care.
Stewart Morgan (Rotherfield Peppard, Kidmore End and Sonning Common) and Jenny Roughan (Hambleden Valley) were among nine people who were licensed at a special service at Christ Church Cathedral in Oxford, led by the Bishop of Dorchester, the Rt Rev Colin Fletcher.
Lay ministers are volunteers who serve alongside the clergy after a three-year training programme. There are more 300 in the Diocese of Oxford, which covers Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.
