Reunited with dog
Published 18/02/13

A WOMAN has been reunited with her dog after it was stolen from Henley market place last week.

Sam Thirlby-Smith, of Greys Road, had tied Ruby, a three-year-old border collie, to a seat outside the National Westminster bank while she went inside.

When she returned shortly afterwards there was no sign of the dog.

Ms Thirlby-Smith, a sales assistant at Precious Love Jewellers in Duke Street, spent Wednesday last week speaking to the police, calling vets and visiting shops in the hope of a sighting.

Then at 7.30pm, she received a call to say that Ruby had been located at Makins recreation ground.

She said: “Ruby was tied to the swings at the playground and was found by a wonderful man called Jeff who was walking his dog, Bertie.

“Jeff called me and mentioned that he had seen Ruby earlier that day but she was with a group of young people.

“As you can imagine, I am so thankful to Jeff for calling me as Ruby was shivering and very frightened. I cannot tell you how relieved I am to have her back.”
