Best of British in Bohun show
Published 11/03/13

WORK by some of the leading names in British art including Damien Hirst, John Hoyland, Albert Irvin, Paula Rego and Henry Moore features in an exhibition of contemporary collectors’ prints at the Bohun Gallery in Henley.

The show, running at the Reading Road gallery from Tuesday, March 12 to Saturday, April 13, will highlight the diversity of 20th century andcontemporary printmaking.

Collector’s Prints 2013 celebrates some of the most enduring and important artist and master printer relationships of the 20th century.

Perhaps the most distinguished name amongst printmakers is master printer Chris Prater OBE of Kelpra Studios who is credited by many as transforming the art of the silkscreen in to an exciting artistic medium.

The role-call of artists whom Prater worked with includes some of the greatest names in 20th century British art and none more so than John Piper.

“Stowe Triptych” by John Piper features in the show and was printed by Kelpra Studios in 1986. Piper also worked with Stanley Jones MBE at Curwen Studios in East London, as did Alan Davie, Elisabeth Frink and Henry Moore, all of whom will be featured in the show.

Also at Bohun Gallery will be prints from the Coriander Studio, who produce many of the Royal Academicians’ work including, Terry Frost, John Hoyland, Barbara Rae and Peter Blake.

The exhibition also highlights current trends in printmaking with work by Damien Hirst, Paula Rego and the young up and coming urban printmaker Dan Baldwin.

These artists are using a whole new spectrum of materials in the print-making process including diamond dust, gilding and neon paints which introduce a whole new dimension to the practice.

Bohun Gallery is also offering the London Suite, a set of 20 prints by Royal Academicians and well established artists produced by Advanced Graphics.

This is an opportunity for collectors to acquire work by some of the UK’s most respected artist including Albert Irvin RA, Anthony Frost, Simon Patterson and Ray Richardson.
