More than 60 staff at Tesco in Reading Road were joined by shoppers as they danced to the DJ Casper hit Cha-Cha Slideat exactly 2.30pm on Saturday. The same thing was happening at every Tesco superstore in the country at the same time to raise money for Diabetes UK.
The Henley store raised £700. Manager Roly Lumm said: “We had the whole store taking part.” Deputy manager Will Broadhead added: “It was mainly about raising awareness of the charity but the money raised was a nice bonus. It was a great event to hold even if we did look a bit silly.”
Throughout the year the store will be working with schools in Henley to raise awareness of Diabetes UK and promote healthy eating and exercise.
Mr Lumm said: “Over the last year we’ve raised about £5,000 as a store and nationwide Tesco wants to make £10 million.”
