A WOMAN’S car was written off after by hit by a falling tree in high winds.
Nikki Wright, 37, was asleep when the incident happened at her flat on the corner of Deanfield Avenue and Deanfield Road in Henley on Friday night.
The 25ft fir tree was uprooted and crashed down on her BMW estate.
Miss Wright, who lives with her 19-month-old daughter Amélie, only found out what had happened when she answered the door to police officers at about 2am on Saturday.
She said: “I had said to a few people ‘I wonder if I should move my car’ but I thought the tree had been there for a very long time and had seen some storms, so it would be fine.
“It is a bit of a disaster to not have my car. Everybody has really rallied round and helped me.”
The tree was chopped up and taken away by Heritage Tree Services on Monday. Miss Wright said she now planned to buy a lottery ticket, adding: “To be that unlucky, you have got to be lucky too, right?”
