A THEMED dinner and dance raised more than £12,000 for a Henley primary school.
The Bollywood Ball held at the Red Lion Hotel was organised by a committee of the Friends of Trinity School.
About 140 parents and Friends attended and many of the women wore colourful saris. The diners enjoyed the three-course Indian meal, a display by the Just Jhoom dance group and an auction with prizes including holidays, a Spitfire experience and the chance for a pupil to be headteacher for the day.
The hotel offered the venue free of charge while Sotheby’s and the Indian Garden Company, based in Hart Street, provided decorations. The event raised £12,400 for drama and sports facilities, including an artificial pitch, at the school in Vicarage Road.
Committee member Shellani Knight said: “It was wonderful to see so many people having a good time, all in the name of raising money for the children.” Headteacher Helen Jones said: “I am enormously grateful, as are all my staff and pupils.
“This could not have been achieved without the tremendous support of our parents giving generously of both their time and their money. We would like to express our huge thanks.”
