SIXTY people attended the launch of Blooming Marvellous, a beer created by Brakspear to support Henley’s bid to win Britain in Bloom.
About 2,000 pints have been brewed and 20p from each pint will go towards Henley in Bloom.
The launch was held at the Bull in Bell Street, where the beer was brewed in the pub’s micro-brewery.
Among the guests were representatives of Brakspear and Henley in Bloom and its Gardening Buddies, Henley Mayor Martin Akehurst, councillors, business owners and Henley in Bloom sponsors.
They all had the chance to sample half-pints of Blooming Marvellous, a 4.3 per cent golden ale said to have a floral, hoppy finish.
Marisa Francini, a member of Henley in Bloom and the South Oxfordshire branch of the Campaign for Real Ale, said: “The aim of the launch was to showcase the beer and thank all the people who have given their time and effort to this project.” Councillor Kellie Hinton, who chairs Henley in Bloom, said: “Blooming Marvellous is lovely and very drinkable. I hope lots of people go out and try it. If it is popular and does really well then it means we could possibly do this project again.”
Emma Sweet, marketing manager at Brakspear, said: “This is a community-focused project and for Brakspear it is great to be able to shout about how proud we are to be brewing in Henley again.”
