The Henley Standard's website has been short-listed for a prestigious national award.
The site, www.henleystandard.co.uk, has been nominated in the Best Use of New Media category at the 2009 Newspaper Awards.
Launched last May, the site has enjoyed month-on-month increases in site traffic and the feedback from visitors has become increasingly positive.
The introduction of HSOtv, the video broadcasting section, last month has been welcomed as a major improvement by both regular visitors to the site and industry observers.
Jacqueline Alexander, the Standard's web strategist said: "We are delighted to be short-listed. It is a real feather in our cap but, more importantly, it reflects the hard work of our small team.
"Of course, recognition also motivates us to improve further. We want to make sure the community has a website that is useful, informative and easy to use while being engaging and entertaining. It is a tall order but we are well on our way."
It is the first time the Standard has been short-listed in the awards. The competition is fierce with projects from the Daily Telegraph, Financial Times and four other regional newspapers vying for the top spot.
The winner will be announced on April 22nd.
