Leander athletes strike gold down under

ALL three Leander athletes representing GB at the Australian Youth Olympics won gold, silver and bronze in the weekendís finals.

On Saturday Benjamin Board and Jamie Copus came from a length down to take gold in the lightweight menís double scull ahead of New Zealand in a time of six minutes, 6.67 seconds. Fellow club mate Jack Beaumont took the top honours in the single scull final in a time of seven minutes, 5.29 seconds ahead of fellow GB sculler Luke Moon.

The gold medallists teamed up to win silver and bronze medals in Sundayís finals. Board, Beaumont and Copus, joined in the quadruple scull by Moon, took silver behind winners Australia. In the menís eight the trio helped GB to bronze behind New Zealand in second place and gold medalists Australia.
