ALL three Leander athletes representing GB at the Australian Youth Olympics won gold, silver and bronze in the weekend’s finals.
On Saturday Benjamin Board and Jamie Copus came from a length down to take gold in the lightweight men’s double scull ahead of New Zealand in a time of six minutes, 6.67 seconds. Fellow club mate Jack Beaumont took the top honours in the single scull final in a time of seven minutes, 5.29 seconds ahead of fellow GB sculler Luke Moon.
The gold medallists teamed up to win silver and bronze medals in Sunday’s finals. Board, Beaumont and Copus, joined in the quadruple scull by Moon, took silver behind winners Australia. In the men’s eight the trio helped GB to bronze behind New Zealand in second place and gold medalists Australia.
