Closed Henley pub re-opens... again!
Published 22/02/13

The Queen Victoria Pub in Henley re-opened last night (Thursday).

It has been taken over by Nick Cobb, who had previously run Latinos night club in Hart Street.

The pub, which is behind the town hall, had been run since December by Simon Rolls and his partner Renee Ansell.

But the couple closed it suddenly last week due to a family illness and returned to Mr Rolls’ parents’ pub, the Allied Arms in St Mary’s Butts, Reading.

Mr Cobb says he was asked by Enterprise Inns, the landlords, to step in while new tenants can be found but he has decided to make it his permanent home.

He added: “I had been running a pub in Barkham but when I came to see the Queen Victoria I loved in and I have moved the family upstairs.”

The pub has had a chequered history and has previously been closed down by police due to licence breaches. When Mr Rolls and Miss Ansell took over they changed the name from the Victoria in a bid to improve its reputation.
