Talent show raises hundreds for hospice
Published 07/03/13

THIRTEEN pupils from Gillotts School in Henley entertained their classmates at a talent show on Tuesday (March 5).

The event, which was held at the secondary in Gillotts Lane, raised more than £500 for the Helen and Douglas House youth hospice.

Entrants sang or played instruments, while Jake Clark, George Buckett and Dougie McGrory formed a rock trio and performed Slade's Cum On Feel The Noize.

They were judged by T'Pau singer Carol Decker, who lives in Henley, Henley Youth Festival founder Alfie Hay and saxophonist Joe Henwood.

The winners were acoustic duo Jade Allum and Bella Bull, who were presented with a framed gold record. The pair also won a slot at the Henley Youth Festival on March 16.

Tania McIntosh, who played a piano solo, came third and singer-songwriter Lissy Smith came second. Both were given silver records.

A full story will appear in next week's Henley Standard. See www.henleystandard.co.uk/tv for video later in the week.
