ENTRIES for this year’s Henley half marathon will open next month.
The race and the accompanying Henley Standard 10km will be held on the morning of Sunday, October 13.
The organisers, Henley Bridge Rotary Club, say they want to emphasise that only Marlow Road will be closed and for only about 25 minutes.
The event has a new website with information about the event where runners can register.
The half marathon, now in its 31st year, is probably the largest sporting event in Henley after the royal regatta and over the years has raised tens of thousands of pounds for charities including the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
The race starts and finishes at Henley Rugby Club. The course leads runners over Henley Bridge and along the Thames before returning over the river, up “heartbreak hill” at Fawley and then down Fair Mile towards the finish line.
Facilities for runners include chip timing, goody bags and drinks stations as well as changing and shower facilities, parking and
The course is marshalled by Rotarians with help from a number of local groups such as the Henley air, army and sea cadets, scouts, Shipake College and Henley College.
The event is supported by landowners, Henley Rughy Club, the Borlase Family, the Fawley Estate and Henley Royal Regatta.
