A SALE of second-hand bicycles will be held in the car park of Sonning Common Health Centre on Saturday from 10.30am to noon.
It is being staged by the organisers of the seventh On Your Bike event, which will take place at the primary school on April 28.
Bikes for all ages will be on sale and refreshments will be available.
On Your Bike organiser Penny Snowden said: “If your kids have grown too big for their bikes, this is a great chance to sell their old ones and buy new ones from someone else. In past years we have seen a particularly high demand for bikes suitable for junior school-aged children. Bike trailers and child tag-a-longs also exchange hands quickly.”
Steve Hampton, who lives in Sonning Common and has taken part in On Your Bike, said: “We bought a tag-a-long for iour youngster son Dexter at one of these sales and it has been brilliant.” This year’s challenge, which is sponsored by the Standard, is in aid of the Sue Ryder hospice at Nettlebed and the school.
Participants can choose to ride six, 12 or 20 miles. There is also a supervised playground cycle for younger children and On Your Feet treasure hunt walks of between one and three miles around Sonning Common.
Mrs Snowden said: “It’s a ride, not a race, so people of all ages and abilities can take part. It’s about encouraging more families to enjoy healthy activities together.”
People who register before 9pm on April 18 will be entered into a free draw to win a bike donated by event sponsor A W Cycles, of Henley Road, Caversham.
