Prospective District Councillor - Peter Dragonetti

I HAVE lived in the ward for 28 years, initially in Crays Pond and since 1994 in Whitchurch Hill. My wife is a community nurse looking after older adults in Caversham and Reading. I am a chartered accountant but stopped working in 2012 to concentrate on living.

I think it is important that Whitchurch and Kidmore End are represented on the district council by someone who lives in the area and who is really active in the community.  I have been a member of Goring Heath Parish Council  since 1995, and I have served as chairman for much of that time.

Many of the planning decisions made by the district council in recent years have been significantly damaging to the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Conservative-led council has been active in encouraging damaging developments when they should have been protecting the countryside. 

Although a member of the Green Party, it’s the philosophy of the protection of the natural environment that’s important to me.

The pressure for development in this area is relentless and I want the district council to take its duty to protect and enhance the AONB.
