A WRITER from Watlington has had her second novel published.
Liz Harris, 61, of St Leonard’s Close, says the last year has been a “dream come true” after her debut novel A Road Back won Coffee Time Romance book of the year in America and was shortlisted for the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s Joan Hessayon award in the UK.
“It’s been an absolutely amazing year,” she said. “It has been very busy and I don’t think I have ever worked harder. It has been marvellous to know people are reading what I have written. It is a dream.”
Her latest release A Bargain Struck is set in Wyoming in 1887 and tells the story of a widower who advertises for a wife to raise his young son — although the woman he chooses has not been entirely honest about her credentials.
The novel, inspired by a radio programme about mail order brides, has been reviewed in the Daily Mail, which described it as a “sure hit” and was chosen as Radio Marlow’s book of the month.
