Royalty attends Watlington Christmas Fair
Published 18/12/13

ABOUT 2,000 people, including a member of the royal family, attended the Watlington Christmas fair.

Craft, gift, food and community group stalls lined High Street and Father Christmas offered sleigh rides around the town.

Members of Watlington Concert Band wore reindeer antlers and tinsel while playing festive tunes in aid of the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust.

Pupils from Watlington Primary School and Icknield Community College sang carols and Reg Troubshort and Abner Turnipseed performed cowboy songs to raise money for the Friends of Icknield.
The Duchess of Kent drew the raffle winners.

Town crier Al Tait oversaw the event, which is organised by Watlington Business Association.

Association spokeswoman Andreina West said: “There was a good atmosphere and the Duchess enjoyed being part of it and definitely added to the occasion.”

She thanked Chiltern Pet Partners for providing ponies for the sleigh rides, Jane Few-Brown, Kate Dew and Paul Morriss for selling raffle tickets and Linda Morriss for organising the craft fair.

The proceeds will be donated to local good causes which will be announced in the New Year.
