Historic church prepares for annual snowdrop festival
Published 19/01/14

PREPARATIONS are underway for this year’s snowdrop teas festival in Swyncombe.

The annual event at St Botolph’s Church will be held on the second and third weekends in February.

Visitors will be able to see a carpet of snowdrops and yellow aconites in the churchyard.

Teas and cakes will be sold between 2pm and 4pm each day and the ministry team will bless the snowdrops at 3pm. A choral evensong will be held on the final Sunday (February 16) at 4.30pm.

John Sennett, one of the organisers, said: “It looks like funds may be rather short this year for the running and care of the church and it is hoped that folks will turn out in force to help St Boltoph’s survive into its next millennium.”

Entry is free and there are signs on the B481 to direct visitors.

Last year’s event raised more than £4,000 for church funds and charities.

Meanwhile, the church has a new website. It includes the building’s history and photos of recent baptisms.
