HENLEY MP John Howell has called for a detailed timetable for the work being carried out on Whitchurch Bridge.
He was speaking after he and Reading West MP Alok Sharma attended a meeting on Friday with the Whitchurch Bridge Company and its contractor Balfour Beatty.
The meeting was called after the company’s announcement that the bridge would be closed for another three months because of the high river levels throughout January which meant no work could be done.
The bridge was shut for refurbishment in October and was due to re-open on April 14 but will now be closed until July.
Mr Howell said: “The weather introduces uncertainties but we would still like to see a joint programme of work timetabled to include the various sub-contractors involved. Alok and I are ready to help resolve any problems the team may encounter — all they have to do is ask us. However, a good idea of when the work might finish is now essential.”
The meeting was also attended by representatives of West Berkshire Council, Oxfordshire County Council, Pangbourne Parish Council and the Environment Agency.
