I LIVE in Henley and recently retired from a career in financial services.
Since moving to Henley seven years ago, I have involved myself in the Henley community by being an an active volunteer at the Kenton Theatre and also with Henley Wildlife Group.
I am currently researching the history of the River Thames along with its locks and weirs with a view to publishing my findings.
I am standing for election because I think there should be a wider representation of political views on the district council. People should have the choice to vote for a party that stands for fairness, social justice, equal opportunities and environmental protection.
We need to plan for a much more sustainable future for the environment, our towns and villages and the local economy.
I support the “buy local” campaign and want to promote increased production and availability of local food.
In South Oxfordshire we have a very high use of energy. The district council should do more by making sure that energy saving is a priority in all new buildings, supporting insulation and energy efficiency improvements to existing buildings and encouraging projects to generate clean energy.
