A GUN was found by a member of the public in woodland near Nettlebed.
Police were called to land off the B481, near the entrance to the Sue Ryder hospice, at about 10.20am on Sunday and cordoned off a large area of woodland.
Gary Davison, 36, general manager of the White Hart hotel and restaurant in High Street, Nettlebed, said he saw two police cars and a forensics vehicle as he drove home.
“I saw a couple of guys in white suits putting something into the back of the van,” he said. “It’s definitely not something you see around Nettlebed every day.”
Postmistress Mel Bullock, 54, from Nettlebed Village Shop said: “It’s a surprise having a bit of a police presence and a cordoned-off area. It’s not something you expect.”
A Thames Valley Police spokeswoman said a thorough search was made of the area and the gun had been sent away for forensic examination.
