RADIO presenter Mike Read was the speaker at the annual meeting of the Henley branch of UKIP held at the Swan Hotel in Thame.
Chairman Ken Arlett, a former Henley mayor, welcomed those present, including Jason Kent, chairman of UKIP Oxfordshire.
He said that membership of the branch had grown by about 35 per cent since the Oxfordshire County Council elections in May and that all the new members supported UKIP’s view that Britain should leave the European Union.
He also spoke about the hustings that will take place this month to choose a candidate to stand for UKIP in the Henley constituency at next year’s general election.
The meeting agreed that Mr Arlett should continue as chairman, with Ross Abram, from Chinnor, as treasurer and Christopher Jones, from Goring, as the new secretary.
Mr Read was then called on to give a talk about culture, media and sport as well as his views on the EU.
