Fast food outlet targeted a second time

A FAST food outlet in Benson has been targeted by an armed robber for the second time in a month.

Police were called to McDonald’s in Oxford Road at about 3am on Wednesday last week after a man forced his way inside and threatened staff with a hammer.

He forced staff to hand over money from the tills before running off towards Benson village.

The robbery follows an incident on April 1 in which a masked man threatened staff with a bat before taking £1,985.

Police say they are not ruling out a link between the robberies and are appealing for information about the latest incident.

The man is described as either white with tanned skin or of mixed race, about 6ft, with a medium build. He was wearing a grey hooded top and grey tracksuit bottoms.

Ds Roger Lamboll said: “I am keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may be able to provide us with information about the movements of this man either before or after the robbery.

“I would also urge anyone with any knowledge of this incident to come forward and speak to us as soon as possible.”
