A WOMAN from Henley has won a poetry competition.
Jane Draycott, of Harpsden Road, was awarded first prize in the fifth Open International Hippocrates Prize for poetry.
She was presented with her £5,000 prize by poet Philip Gross at an international symposium on poetry and medicine at the Royal Society of Medicine in London.
Her winning poem, The Return, concerns sanatoria around the world that are just as they were when abandoned decades ago.
Mrs Draycott is a part-time lecturer in the department of English and creative writing at Lancaster University.
