Rural pubs have own Country Ale Trail
Published 21/06/14

BRAKSPEAR has launched its Country Ale Trail for a second year.

The trail, which is designed to attract walkers and cyclists to the company’s rural pubs, was introduced last year following the success of the Henley Ale Trail.

Customers visiting any pub on the route are given a map which is then stamped when they buy a pint of Brakspear beer in any of the participating pubs. Once maps have been stamped at all 10 pubs, they can be redeemed for a free pint of Brakspear and a Country Ale Trail T-shirt.

The 29-mile route takes in 10 village pubs including the Catherine Wheel and John Barleycorn in Goring, the Cherry Tree in Stoke Row, and the Half Moon in Cuxham.

A third trail will be launched later in the summer, taking in 10 pubs in villages including Sonning Common, Rotherfield Peppard, Nettlebed and Shiplake.

Brakspear chief executive Tom Davies said: “We were delighted with the response to our first Country Ale Trail last summer and are launching the two new trails in order to give other rural pubs the same support. We hope the many cyclists, walkers and horse riders who embark on one of our trails enjoy the experience and find at least one hidden gem.”
