A MAN from Caversham has been jailed for almost six years for dealing drugs.
Kudzayi Mashingaidze, 29, of Star Road, Caversham, was sentenced to five years and 10 months at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday (9/7).
He was charged on June 12 last year with one count of possession with intent to supply a class A drug – crack cocaine – and one count of possession with intent to supply a class A drug – diamorphine – and one count of being concerned in the supply of class B – cannabis.
Police officers witnessed what they believed was a possible drug deal on December 4, 2012, and Mashingaidze was stopped and searched. He was found to be in possession of cannabis and cash.
Following the search of a house, police seized 12.1g of crack cocaine and 15.05g of heroin along with digital scales and mobile phones with text messages in relation to drug dealing.
Speaking after the sentencing, investigating officer Det Sgt Sarah Sanderson, from Reading Local Area CID, said: “This sentence sends out a strong message that drug dealing will not be tolerated in the Thames Valley. Any reports of such behaviour will be taken seriously and robust action will be taken against offenders.”
