Seventies village girls get back together
Published 26/07/14

A GROUP of friends who grew up in Nettlebed held a reunion in the village.

Mandy Sadler organised the event with the help of Teresa Godfrey, Beth and Linda Wood, Pauline Sweetman, Karen Buckett and Heather Reed.

They sold 106 tickets for the gathering, which was held in the Nettlebed Club and raised £193 for Sue Ryder. Mrs Sadler, 52, from Chinnor, said: “We all grew up in Nettlebed in the Seventies and used to come in from school and race up to the recreation ground to play cricket and football.

“There used to be a disco in the Nettlebed Club on Fridays, which we thought was the bee’s knees. Over the years we have all moved out of the village and got married. A few of us saw each other recently at funerals and said wouldn’t it be nice to have a good occasion to meet up rather than a sad one.

“It was open to everybody in and around the village. There were people there who I hadn’t seen for 30 years. It was a really good evening.”
