Rewind Festival stars sign charity guitar
Published 12/08/14

A GUITAR signed by 16 acts at last year’s Henley Rewind Festival is being auctioned for a children’s hospice charity.

The acoustic guitar, which has the signatures of Eighties stars including Billy Ocean, Chesney Hawks and Kim Wilde, is being sold by the Helen and Douglas House shop in Duke Street, Henley.

It was passed around backstage at last year’s festival by Rewind’s artist liaison officer Jackie Peacock.

Mrs Peacock said: “When the acts are signed up they are passed over to me and I look after them during Rewind weekend.

“All the artists are very good and always sign things that we can auction for charity.”

The shop will be accepting offers until 5pm tomorrow (Saturday). Shop manager Jean Hugill said: “We are absolutely delighted to have the guitar and we want as many people as possible to get involved and place a bid. People can ring the shop or come in.”

The proceeds will go towards the cost of refurbishing Helen House in Oxford, which is 30 years old.

Mrs Hugill said: “We are still £500,000 short of our total.”

The shop is also offering fancy dress costumes, including wigs and tutus, for people attending this year’s Rewind, which takes places at Temple Island Meadows this weekend.
