A PUB in Sonning Common has re-opened with a new tenant.
The Bird in Hand on the B481 Peppard Road has been bought by businessman Trevor Hunt and will be run by 25-year-old James Allen, who was previously duty manager at the Dew Drop Inn in Hurley.
The pub was closed for about a month after the last tenants left and Mr Allen said it had taken about three weeks to get it back up to scratch and ready to re-open.
“It was not very nice and a bit neglected and filthy,” he said.
“We were going to open in July but once we got stuck in and realised how much work we had to do, we pushed it back to make sure the pub was looking its best.
“Thankfully, it has all come together.
“A lot of the people in Sonning Common have come to introduce themselves and it has been nice to see a bit of support from the village.”
