A NEW sensory garden has been unveiled at a care home offering nursing and dementia care.
The £30,000 garden at Lashbrook House in Mill Road, Shiplake, was unveiled by Henley Deputy Mayor Jeni Wood.
Called Clover Meadows, it features plants with different scents and colours as well as musical chimes, a pergola, pathway, fountain and seating areas. Erica Hart, managing director of Majesticare, which runs the home, said: “We have redesigned the garden to incorporate dementia-friendly spaces. The patients are going to go round the garden and discover different things. There are two raised beds for them to do their own gardening.”
Councillor Wood said: “It’s lovely because it’s so open and people seem to enjoy it so much. It’s a great facility. ”
Lashbrook House received £15,000 from the Department of Health via Oxfordshire County Council for the project and £15,000 came from Majesticare.
