New visitor parking charges proposed
Published 06/01/17

RESIDENTS of Henley whose streets are controlled by permit parking schemes might have to pay £20 if they wish to receive guests on more than 25 days a year.

At the moment, visitors can park in the road and collect a ticket from the pay and display machines.

However, these are to be replaced in the spring and the passes will no longer be issued.

Instead Oxfordshire County Council is proposing to give each household 25 days’ worth of free visitors’ parking permits per year in the form of scratchcards, as it does in Oxford.

After six months residents would be able to purchase a second set of 25 for £20. Those over the age of 70 would not have to pay. The scratchcards would be issued by Henley Town Council.

The county council is consulting on the idea and all comments must be sent to traffic.consult@oxfordshire.gov.uk by February 3.

A decision will be made on March 2.
