CROWDS flocked to Mill Meadows and basked in the sunshine on Monday at the popular Henley May Fair.
Early morning rain threatened to turn the event into a wash-out, but by 2 p.m. the sun had broken through the clouds and young and old alike welcomed the arrival of summer.
And even though people had to dodge one or two puddles, they did so with a smile.
The duck derby, organised by Henley Lions Club, saw thousands of plastic ducks released into the River Thames, with prizes for those whose duck was first across the finish line.
Henley Round Table organised the event, which included a comedy trampoline act, a children’s football tournament and a sheepdog herding ducks.
Live music, a fun fair, charity stalls and plenty of refreshments ensured there was something for everyone.
Rupert Penfold, from Henley Round Table, told the Standard: “The whole day went very well — it was a great success.
“The turnout was excellent, and there appeared to be more people than last time.
“The various events and performances seemed to go down very well, and I think everybody who went along had a great time.”
