Walk off that extra Christmas weight
Comments(0)

A WALK to help people lose weight put on over Christmas will take place in Sonning Common tomorrow (Saturday).

Organised by Sonning Common Health Walks, it will start at the village health centre at 2pm. There will be a choice of a three- or five-mile walk and all are welcome.

Chris Brook, of Cooper Pightle, Kidmore End, said: “The walks are a great way of getting fit and meeting new people. People can walk at their own pace as there are arrows on the ground so that walkers will know where they are going. There is also a leader at the front and the back of the walk and someone who is trained in first aid.”

Sonning Common Health Walks organises 10 walks a week, each ranging from half a mile to five miles and graded by distance, terrain and stiles to help walkers decide which one is suitable for them.

Ms Brook, who has taken part for the past 12 years, said: “I have very low bone density and am asthmatic. My doctor told me I had to walk for one mile each day. The walks made a huge difference.”

For more information, call Ms Brook on (0118) 924 2515 or email chris@sonningcommonhealthwalks.co.uk or visit www.sonningcommonhealthwalks.co.uk.

lPrinted maps of walks around Peppard and Sonning Common are available at the health centre in Wood Lane and the library in Grove Road.
