LEWKNOR Primary School is celebrating after a visit from an Ofsted inspector.
The school has seen its rating increase from “satisfactory” to “good with many outstanding features” in just three years.
The report highlighted the “vibrant” curriculum and quality of teaching at the school. It added that “lessons are interesting and motivate pupils to do their best.”
Inspectors also praised headteacher Jonathan Walker and school governors, saying they have “a clear vision for the future and high aspirations to improve even further.”
The school has 77 pupils from Watlington, Thame, Chinnor and Stokenchurch.
Mr Walker said: “I am delighted that the inspector has recognised the improvements made in recent years.
“She was required to make judgements about the school in 33 different areas — 14 were judged outstanding and the remaining 19 as good.
“This is a real tribute to the hard work and commitment of the staff, the governing body and our pupils. It also reflects the excellent way in which parents, pupils and the wider community work together.”
Janet Tomlinson, Oxfordshire County Council’s director for children, young people and families, said: “I would like to thank the headteacher, staff and governors for their commitment to giving the very best standard of education to the children at Lewknor.
“The school has shown how visionary leadership and a dedicated staff team can produce significant improvements in a relatively short space of time and I am confident they will continue their drive to raise standards even further.”
