Grogan and Williams do the damage
Comments(0)

THE WHITCHURCH openers put on 32 runs for the first wicket which also turned out to be the highest partnership of a low-scoring match at GREYS GREEN on Saturday but even they required a couple of lives to do so. This included one remarkable moment when Ahmed hit the wicket hard yet failed to remove the bails!

All batsmen found it difficult to score runs but the bowlers bowled well as Cusden finished with 5—22.

The Whitchurch total of 104 seemed attainable but everything Greys had been able to do, Whitchurch managed better. Grogan and Williams bowled well and long and the team’s fielding was admirably keen and focused. As a result Greys struggled and only Howse and Rooke threatened to overhaul the target.

TOTAL 88e_SClBe_SEmSDue to circumstances beyond their control, GREYS GREEN played their match against LITTLE MARLOW on Sunday with only nine men but, despite that handicap, the team put in a creditable performance against their strong opponents from Buckinghamshire.

Greys Green bowled and fielded well to keep the score down to 160—7 at tea, with Glennerster scoring 55 and Rooke taking 4-42 and Skilleter picking up 2—35.

Greys were always in with a chance of scoring the runs, with solid contributions from Knight, Dennis and Barclay-Watt and, at one time were well on course at 94—3 but then things started to unravel, with Sharif taking three vital wickets in ten balls. Greys were left just 23 runs short.
