A CLUB has won an award for its real ale for the second year running.
Wargrave and District Snooker Club was awarded the Campaign for Real Ale’s regional club of the year title.
The award is made to clubs that show the greatest commitment to serving top-quality real ale.
The competition is open to all private members’ clubs in mid-Berkshire that allow entry to guests.
Jackie Parker, regional director of Camra, said: “This real ale haven in Wargrave has a nice, relaxed atmosphere. The club is a worthy winner and its continuing success shows its commitment to real ale.
“We’re seeing an increase in the number of clubs in this area that serve real ale and I hope this annual competition will encourage more places to give it a try.”
The club, which is in the Woodclyffe Hostel in Church Street, is open from 7 pm to 11pm, Monday to Friday. It has three full-size snooker tables as well as darts and other pub games.
Mel Davies, bar manager at the club, said: “We are very pleased with our second regional win. We try to serve a decent pint of beer and our membership is increasing so we must be doing something right.”
