AN online discussion forum has been launched for people to give their views on the redevelopment of Townlands Hospital in Henley.
It will be useful for people unable to attend meetings of the Townlands Community Group formed last year.
Project manager Tony Burrage said it was important to hear what sort of healthcare that residents, especially young people and parents, wanted. Previous meetings have been poorly attended and then often only by older people.
Mr Burrage said: “This is a chance for people to give us the benefit of their views so that we can get the best idea of what people want from the Townlands project. They can also give us suggestions of things that we might not have thought of.”
Speaking at a recent Townlands meeting, Roger Shaw, head of the Henley Offshore Group, a sailing club, said 49 people attended a recent meeting of his group but only 48 were at the hospital meeting.
“This is a meeting about a hospital that serves thousands of people... why are we so badly represented? There should be hundreds of people in this room.”
Meanwhile, bidders for the development will soon be invited to discuss their plans with Oxfordshire NHS Primary Care Trust.
The Townlands project group will analyse the bids based on four categories: quality (35 per cent), community acceptability (30 per cent), finance (25 per cent) and flexibility and future proofing (10 per cent).
The projected cost of a project will be divided by the points given in each category, allowing for a “pounds per point” ratio to be calculated and showing the development that represents best value for money. The successful bid is likely to be announced in November.
