Concert raises £330 for disabled children Comments(0)
THE Chiltern Centre for disabled children in Henley has received a donation of £330.
The money was raised at a Christmas concert given by the Henley Symphony Orchestra.
It will be used to buy a specially designed television for the children at the Greys Road centre.
Organiser Helen Fraser said: “It was the second year that we have put on a concert at Christmas for babies and primary schoolchildren and we donate money to a local children’s charity.
“The Chiltern Centre got the most votes from the orchestra and we felt it does excellent work.”
Marian Lee, the centre’s director of services, said: “I want to buy a television for one of the children’s bedrooms. It is made so that it cannot be broken easily.”
To celebrate the orchestra’s 40th anniversary, it will be holding a summer concert which some of the centre’s children may attend.
The centre was recently named winner of the short break setting of the year award in the Government’s Aiming High for Disabled Children scheme, part of Oxfordshire Celebrating Inclusion Awards.
