PARKING, potholes and dog fouling are among the top concerns of Sonning Common residents.
Initial results from the Sonning Common Community Plan questionnaire, which was delivered to around 1,600 households last month, show that people want to see improvements in these areas.
The findings will form the basis of a new action plan for the village.
Sara Capaldi, who chairs the community plan group, said: “Many people are concerned about inconsiderate parking. They want to see better use of the current facilities and certainly nobody favours anything more radical, such as paying for parking.”
Mrs Capaldi, of Rowan Close, said questionnaires had been returned by about 80 per cent of households so far. “It is gratifying that people have been so keen to fill in the survey,” she said. “Every household should have had a survey by now but, if not, it is not too late.
“Additional copies of the questionnaire can be picked up from the library in Grove Road. People can also return their surveys to the library.”
The replies are being analysed by area to help build up a picture of the main issues in any given location. The findings will be reported to local authorities, the police and other agencies and it is hoped that a full report will be available by the summer.
Up to 50 people volunteered to deliver the questionnaires and explain the survey to people. “It has been a real community effort,” said Mrs Capaldi.
